The Teens
Talking About Relationships club, coordinated by the Wellness
Center, is an educational and action club that brings teens together to
promote healthy dating relationships through peer education and activities. CHILD,
Inc., a local non-profit agency advises the club. In 2005 the club was
awarded the Governor’s Youth Volunteer Service Award for their efforts
in planning and participating in events to help prevent their peers from
getting involved in abusive relationships. Recently, the club members
have written, performed, and recorded a variety of skits that focus on
the warning signs of unhealthy relationships to help promote awareness
of the issue of teen dating violence.
Meetings are held after school on Tuesdays in Room A102 (Health room) from
2:45-4pm. Membership reopens in the fall of each year. For more information,
stop by the Wellness Center or contact Jen Penoza of CHILD, Inc. at (302)
254-5528 or jpenoza@childinc.com. |
